CloudPOS is a cloud-native point-of-sale system built specifically for multi-location restaurant groups. It handles the complexity of split billing, real-time kitchen display systems, integrated inventory management, and staff scheduling — from a single, browser-based interface that works even when the internet goes down.

The Challenge

Existing POS solutions in the market were either too simple for multi-location operations or required $50,000+ enterprise implementations. CloudPOS needed to be powerful enough for a 50-location restaurant group, but simple enough for a single café owner to set up in an afternoon.

Our Solution

A React frontend with a Node.js backend, MongoDB for flexible menu and order schemas, and WebSockets for real-time synchronisation between front-of-house tablets and kitchen display screens. The offline-first architecture stores all orders locally using IndexedDB and syncs automatically when connectivity is restored — meaning a lost internet connection never means a lost order. Stripe Terminal integration handles card-present payments with EMV compliance.

Deployment

CloudPOS runs on custom Raspberry Pi hardware (for the kitchen displays) alongside standard iPad and Android tablet front-of-house setups. The entire hardware stack costs under $800 per location — compared to $8,000+ for the enterprise alternatives it replaces.

1,200+ restaurant locations, 85,000+ daily transactions, 1.2s average order processing time, 99.99% uptime in 18 months of production operation.
